Scripture Read: Nehemiah 5:15–19, Nehemiah 6:1–19, Nehemiah 7:1–4, 1 Chronicles 9:2–34, Nehemiah 11:1–9
Topic: Stay Focused Until the Work Is Finished
Scripture Anchor: Nehemiah 6:3 — “I am doing a great work and cannot come down.”
Lesson I Learned
Today’s reading teaches me about focus.
Sanballat and the others repeatedly tried to pull Nehemiah away from the work. When one method failed, they tried rumours, intimidation and even false spiritual counsel.
But Nehemiah refused to leave his assignment.
Eventually, the wall was completed in just 52 days, and even their enemies recognised that God had helped them.
This teaches me that not every invitation deserves my attention. Some things may appear urgent but are actually distractions from what God has called me to complete.
After the wall was finished, Nehemiah also appointed faithful people to take responsibility. Finishing a project is important, but putting the right systems and people in place afterwards is also necessary.
Personal Charge
I must learn to say no to distractions.
I will protect my focus, discern manipulation, finish what I start, and entrust responsibilities to faithful people.
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my hands for the work You have given me. Give me discernment to recognise distractions and grace to remain focused until the assignment is completed. Amen.
